史克威尔日前推出了《奇异人生2》的免费前传章节内容，名为“The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit”（灵魂队长的惊奇冒险）。这一章节为建立在《奇异人生》设定的原创叙事内容，负责连接原版与2代的剧情和角色，而玩家所作的一些选择和动作也会对2代正传产生影响。

在这一篇章中，玩家将扮演Chris以及他的另我“灵魂队长”，他们需要完成一系列任务来解锁秘密内容。

另外，虽然这是免费游戏，但史克威尔依然采用了Denuvo加密，显然公司是不希望有其他组织盗版这一章节造成不必要的麻烦。
